Mechanical

Much care is taken to evaluate the reciprocal damages that may be caused by equipment prior to selecting this methodology. While large machinery is sometimes used to control exotics, such equipment is not selective and unacceptable in many sensitive control environments. Mechanical methods are most effective when combined with a selective chemical application and can be the most effective when utilized in the maintenance stages of a project.

Here are examples of tools used to mechanically control invasive plants:

  • Chain saws
  • Brush cutters
  • Weed wrenches
  • Lopping Shears
  • Mattocks
  • Bush Hogs
  • Hand Clippers
  • Girdling
